Our thesis films are finally online.
Rebecca Sugar, Peyton Skyler, and i graduated from SVA this May. As traditional animation students, we were required to make thesis films. The three of us decided to create a trilogy.
The films stand alone as separate stories, but also form a larger whole.
Rebecca's film SINGLES is currently being featured on Cartoon Brew TV (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/brewtv/singles.html).
Links to the other two films are at the bottom of the article.

Animation from Animation School
there's been a delay in the making of my demo reel because i'm still a little new to CS4.
so i've decided to post some older things on here.
this is from a couple of years ago.

Be a Man Kill the Fish
Yuriy Gavrilenko has posted Be a Man Kill the Fish on youtube. It's not the highest-res version, but we'll put up a better one soon.
This was the first animated film i ever worked on. Yuriy Directed, i animated, and Dmitry Rozin edited it (a few hours before its premiere at RSFest 2, in 2004).

Poor Man's 3D
When virtual reality appeared, and was extremely expensive, Randy Pausch created a project called "Virtual Reality for $5 a Day".
So, now that we're in the days when "3d tv without the glassses " techology is being developed, i've decided to try making the poor man's 3d without glasses experience. I'm not nearly as smart as Randy Pausch was but i think i may be on to something.
This is made of two frames played one after the other at 48 frames per second (if flash can really do that).
The weird thing is that i accidentally gave it two focal points.
of course, after posting this i found a bunch of this kind of stuff HERE. B U T ! i made mine using just one camera and adjusted the images in photoshop (that's where the multiple focal points came from). so, my method is cheaper and more flexible. oh yeah.
of course my next step will be to do a longer animation - add motion. maybe tomorrow.

Found-Graphics, Animated
I once had to think of a last-minute cheat for a digital compositing assignment.
So i found an educational illustration of how some water creature wags its tail.
There were like 6 drawings there and, because this was a text book illustration, they were pretty "on model".
The drawings had been created to be consistent (so that the creature may read as the same throughout the illustration) but without any intention of being animated.
And so when i aligned and sequenced these drawings, the results were eerie. If i can find this animation, i will definitely post it.
Meanwhile, i've decided to try this out with some other illustrations i've come across.
Look at these guys go!

Thesis Film Stills
Here are some screenshots from my thesis film. It is called METROMORPHOSIS, and runs 5:00 minutes.
It was part of a trilogy on which i collaborated with Peyton Skyler and Rebecca Sugar. The three films - Singles, Cat, and Metromorphosis, will be screened in that order.
